    Default Transducer mount to TM

Anyone see any issues from modifying the fin, guard, or whatever it is, to accommodate this transducer mount? Thanks.

It looks fine to me just like that as long as your not running up on a log or plowing on the bottom. I don't think it would hurt to notch the fin a little if you needed to.

I just went out and looked at mine and it being a newer TM the fin is forward with plenty of room behind it for transducer. That TM you have wasn't born yesterday.

LOL! You're right, it's an old one. It's a Johnson Seahorse. Got a three position switch, but only runs low and medium. Looking at the wiring I'm not sure it ever had three speeds. Anyway, my concern is the face of the transducer won't be parallel to the axis of the motor and thus theoretically not parallel with the lake bottom. How much will that affect the return signal and what I see on the screen?

The skeg is only good for protecting the prop at the slow speeds of a trolling motor. Just cut out what you need to mount the transducer like you want, but leave enough of it to still protect the prop.

It will not hurt anything if it is angled a little forward like the pic. Some folks set them that way so they can see what is ahead of them before they get there.
