    Default Wheeler bream

    Hello all,

This has been an odd spring for all fishing it seems. The crappie spawn on Wheeler never really took off in my area like it has in the past. I did decent on a few trips, but not like in the past. They never really seemed to go shallow.

Now, the bream bite (specifically shellcracker) is lacking big time on Wheeler. I've only caught 3 after hitting all my normal bed spots. I'm not seeing hardly any beds on my SI either. Are any other Wheeler lake folks noticing this? I primarily fish the lower end of the reservoir. The surface water temp is now approaching 90 deg!!

    Thanks, and tight lines!

Maybe there will be a second round later this month. Looks like May 29 is next full moon.

What type areas have you had luck with? Not asking for locations, but what features? Weed lines? Gravel bottoms? Sandy bottoms? Shallow/deep? Seems like 4ft with gravel bottoms are the ticket. Might try Wilson sometime this week after work, heard the bite was good the other day.

That's good to hear Javelin! I'll have to drag my boat over that way soon and give it a try. I know of a few potential locations, but i'm not super familiar with Wilson like I am Wheeler. I even tried up in spring creek yesterday on Wheeler, no luck at all. I figured at least some of those gravel weed lines would hold crackers, nope. I tried worms, crickets, and the old trusty keystone minnow. It just really surprises me not seeing the beds on my SI.

    Good luck to ya!

Been finding most on sandy points with some mill foil mixed in and a lot of shells mixed in as well! Found lots of beds with few fish on them 10 days ago but now they are covered with mill foil!
