Default What do you build to attract Crappie ?

We used to build lots of stake buckets . We have close to 2000 brush piles , stakebeds and ect in several lakes . We found drove in stakebeds were much easier . I retired from sinking over 2 years ago and use livescope , leave building stuff to the young guys . Wonder how many even bother anymore , just scan for others work ?

Nice stake bucket structures. Build it and they will come. You’re right and probably not many building them anymore.

Still put out 100-200 per year, not many left in our area that put anything out though, most just the few do the work.

Still lots of folks putting in work. Maybe not like it used to be, per capita of fishermen though. Oddly enough, my better fish come off of what appears to be natural trees that had floated down and sank. How do you like those stake buckets? I've never put in actual stake beds. One place I fish relatively frequently when I'm on that particular lake, has had someone install a small stake bed. I caught a 2.18 off of it first fish of the year this year, in January when they don't really use cover here. That said, I went back this weekend to that cove, and when fish are all over shallow cover, and it was oddly enough, barren.

Every lake is different and you will have to check on the lake you plan to drop structure. Couple of the lakes I fish it's illegal to put anything in the water.

You're on the yak on some of those water shed lakes arent you? I think some of the Corps lakes can be funny as well.

The corps on my local lake are fine with sinking wood or pvc & will give you a permit to do it. They do ask a general area where but not gps waypoints.
