    Default A New Hobby

If you have noticed, I have been selling off a lot of my extra crappie fishing equipment lately. That is to fund something I am learning and enjoying, fly fishing. I used to do it 10+ years ago after college, but it has been a long time. I managed to get out on Sunday and catch some fish on a northern Iowa stream on flies I tied myself. I cannot wait to start tossing streamers for crappie in the spring!

Love it! My favorite way to fish! (Very pretty brown, BTW.)

Don’t be afraid to venture out into saltwater fly fishing, too. It’s great fun, and all you need are some streamers — no dries or nymphs. LOL

That might be a little difficult in Iowa! Maybe a dream trip in the future.

Being able to just tie streamers would be amazing, i tried to tie some #20 midges yesterday and i still have a headache

Hey, I live in Kentucky and fish the salt as much as possible. LOL

Yeah, streamers are much simpler to tie. Fish will just about jerk the rod out of your hand on a streamer bite.

… but trout are fun, too!

Also, I’ve heard Iowa has some good smallmouth streams. They will nail a streamer!
