    Default Raingear....Whatcha Got?!?

With all this rain predicted the next 10 days got me thinking about my raingear. I got the cheap stuff that MIGHT keep me dry enough to make it back to the truck if caught out in it. It CERTAINLY aint enough to make me wanna go fishing leaving the house when it's raining.

So I gotta ask..........what do you fellas have? Anybody got the good stuff that lets you fish when it's raining or do you high-tail it outa there like I have to do? Curious minds wanna know!

I went to a store I'm too poor for and bought me a high-end Drake Waterfowl jacket. Keeps me dry, toasty, and trendy in rain and/or sleet. But I feel like Ralphie's little brother wearing it.

I have the Academy house brand. A jacket and bibs. They work great in cooler weather.

I've got a set from Bass Pro that is about 10 + years old. The knees get damp I think because I'm sitting. It was a couple hundred then.
Besides fishing I worked in lots of walking then in and out of the truck

For cold weather rain I use Cabelas Guidewear Insulated. It’s warm when it ain’t raining, gotta be in the mid twenties to wear it if it ain’t raining. Bass Pro 100 mph for warm or rain with temp in the fifties. I layer if it gonna be chilly. I love rain fishing if it’s gonna be less than 1/2 inches. 1 inch plus unusually stay home. Don’t mine short down pours.

I bought the uninsulated Guidewear from Cabelas about 10 years ago and it was one of the best purchases (outdoor gear wise) that I ever made. I can wear it in mild spring temps or layer underneath if it's cold weather season. I actually like to fish in the rain, the fish don't mind and most people stay home...but, like Doug, I don't care for the heavy rain/storms. Go ahead and spend the money, if you don't...your kids will. lol

I have a BPS 100 mph suit that I bought a couple years ago. One of the best purchases I’ve made. They have phased that model out at BPS now, but I’ve heard several folks that speak very highly of the guide gear.

Another option is Grundens. They will keep you dry!! That’s what the commercial fishermen wear and they wear them for a reason.

So.....if youre buying raingear then how much bigger do you buy assuming you'll layer underneath the raingear and still be able to wear it winter and spring?

I have bought several sets of rain wear that I gave 200$+or-for that was supposed to keep you warm and dry that every time I went fishin in the rain I came back cold and wet
so, I guess if I ever go fishin in the rain again I'll wear what I got and come home cold and wet. umm humm
