Looks like a Longear Sunfish to me. Could even be a hybrid.
It amazes me the different color combinations I find on the lowly sunfish .
Some are pale , while some are bright and beautiful.
I caught this one this morning on a 1/64 jighead and Bobby Garland Itty Bitty SwimR in black/chartreuse. Using my new 6’ St Croix Avid Panfish UL .
I don’t remember ever catching one that looks like this one . The bright yellow bars make this fish spectacular IMO .
This was my Monday meet up with my fishing buddy .
We caught green sunfish , bluegills, small spotted and LM bass and this beautiful fish .
The water has dropped and we were standing on rocks today that we caught greenies out from under last week .
We’re having to change tactics.
From fly tackle to spin tackle . I fished mainly jigs , my buddy fished his favorite lure , the roostertail .
Weather was beautiful, light winds , from high sixes to mid seventies when we left to go home .
Pics of the unknown and a pic of my largest green sunfish of the day .
