Default Kayak Trip Report, Indian Creek

I've been out of town visiting family and returned Wednesday evening. I decided to give Indian Creek a try yesterday getting on the water around 10:30AM and fished till about 3PM. Beautiful day and the fish were very cooperative. Best bait was a 1/32oz jig head with a Bobby Garland Tuxedo Shad body. I kept a limit and returned another limit plus of keepers. There were still 5:1 shorts for every keeper. The fish started at about 6 feet deep on laydowns biting lightly but move to only 24 to 36 inches deep at around 2PM and started actively hitting the bait on the fall. The water was cloudy with visibility of about 24 inches and 49 degrees. It had warmed to 52 degrees by the time I left at 3PM. I suspect anyone fishing other creeks found the same conditions in the afternoon. It doesn't happen every day, but that afternoon bite can be magical in the fall and early winter when it happens. I caught several fish by dropping my jig pole over the side of the kayak with five or six feet of line out while dropping a fish in my cooler. From 2PM till 3PM they seemed to be hitting everything that touched the water.

Power and water were off at the house when I got home so pictures today when I clean them!

    That was a great trip.

I am heading out in an hour. Waiting on the neighbor plus super foggy this morning. Heading to Jordan.

Most of the laydowns are on the bank and extend out into 10 to 14 feet of water.

Good one, 3.1 pounds on my digital scale, not sure how accurate it is but this girl was thick!

I returned a hand full that were 13 or 14 inches after I had my limit, but this was the big on of the day.
