Switching to braid
Hey everyone just looking for some opinions/advice.....switching from mono to braid. I usually use 4 or 6lb test Slime line mono. Usually casting 1/32 or 1/16 jigs with a 6 or 6 1/2 foot ACC crappie stick rods. What would be the best braid and what test strength? Also use high vis yellow. Thanks!

I use the Power Pro Slick8 V2 in moonshine color. The moonshine color glows under blacklight. The Slick 8 is coated to make it cast better. I use the 10lbs 2lbs diameter. I really like the 8lbs 1lbs diameter when I can find it. I have some that is 5 years old. Per foot the 300yrd spool is considerably cheaper than the 150 yrd spoolOriginally Posted by cevans

If this is your first time using braid, I'll share some of my first impressions. My first few cast with fresh braid left me disappointed. Luckily, I was with a seasoned user of this. He just looked at me and smiled. Keep casting he said. As I continued to cast, the line "relaxed" and I came to really enjoy fishing with it.
Another point I'll make is when you price a spool of the good stuff, your going to be shocked after buying mono. What you need to know is that you won't be re-spooling line as often. I've got line on some spools that is five years old and still in good shape. There is a learning curve with this product. For instance, if you get hung up, do NOT wrap the line around your hand and pull. You'll only do that once. Good luck.
