Interesting. Glad it worked well for you
I have hated mono line for years because of the coiling and twists it provided. I would soak the line, I would put it on with the label up and or against the label. No matter what I did "it just did not stay straight."
So I became a diehard braid fan. However, braid has it issues when cutting and tying jigs. And when it fowls up it is a nightmare.
But I came across your threads on how to stretch mono. I took a chance and bought 6 pound hi vis. Tied it to the garage door. Walked 90 feet and stretched it! Then slowly reeled the loose end through the grass.
Absolutely amazing. All my reels are now mono. All are smooth casting with 1/16 jigs. easy to cut and tie.
I am beyond happy!
Thanks again.

You're quite welcome, BigD .... I just got thru stretching line on a couple of outfits, this morning, that will be slinging minners under a slipfloat tomorrow & Saturday. I didn't do it before my last trip, and the memory coils were a hassle to deal with, so I made sure I remembered to do it this time.
One thing I have noticed recently is that reels that are not instant anti-reverse are more prone to having the line wrap around the head or cylinder of the reel, if the line has a lot of memory coils. Now, I love my Shimano Spirex reels ... but, they are the ones I have to remember to stretch the lines on if they haven't been used in the last month or so.

Good stuff. Guess I’ve never had issues with mono and line twist. I use wire cutters to cut braid and snips it no problem. All designated braid cutters I’ve used don’t work well. I use a palomar knot with it. Can get wrapped around your rod tip or tangled with another line something wicked. If you ever get tired of mono again look at getting some gamma panfish. Hands down best non braid line I have used. Smooth as can be and no line twist problems or stretching required.
I will have to try this, thanks pappy!

Reel Magic is good too. Just spray on the line on the reel and let soak in a few minutes.

The following statement is true. The previous statement is false.
That stuff makes my mono brittle as all get out after it dries.
