Default Florida Bow Season, son's 1st deer

I have lived & hunted central Florida my entire life. I have always loved bow season even though it is a tough environment this time of year. We have to deal with excessive rain if not hurricanes as bow season approaches & then the September heat. The benefit because of these conditions is less people in the woods and getting that early season buck before he becomes mostly nocturnal & alert to the added human activity in the deer woods. The year was extra special to have my 10 year old son now interested and mature enough to sit still & also make accurate shots with his crossbow. The season started September 18th & ends this coming weekend. I was able to get a nice 8 point opening day & then we have been putting in the time & effort to try to get my son a chance at his first deer. With work & school it is sometimes difficult to get much time in the stand during the week so we have mostly been giving it all we can on the weekends. Last night I was able to get off work on time & we were able to squeeze in an evening hunt, it paid off & he was able to take his first deer, a 6 point buck. Congrats to him on his accomplishment & a very rewarding experience as a dad to be able to be a part of teaching him to hunt.

Hopefully at some point in your life as a father, uncle or grandpa you take the time & get to experience teaching a kid the outdoors. There are many opportunities to get kids outside and away from the social media & political drama that so many seem to get wrapped up in nowadays. Success is not always the catch or kill but the lasting memories & knowledge passed down to the younger kids, take advantage on what you have now cause it won't always be there.
Congrats Tucker to your first deer & hope to see many more come your way !!

The finest gift you can give to any fisherman is to put a good fish back, and who knows if the fish that you caught isn't someone else's gift to you?"
