Default Catch Clean Cook Birthday Edition

Beep….Beep….Beep….said the alarm on this day of my beginnings, September 10th 1967. It was 5:41 this morning and a peek at Crappie.com revealed that our most prolific poster “G” had already bestowed my Birthday Wishes at 5:01am….wow no wonder he is closing in on 100k. Boat hooked up, cats fed, and a quick stop for gas and I was on my way to the lake. The only snafu of the morning was the gas station was out of ice, no problem I have a good livewell and the plans for the day were simple, catch enough for a Birthday dinner.

The day started slow, a nice fat Speckled one fell for the trusty BGBS and went to the livewell.

Water temps have cooled from the deluges of Ida and Fred and the crappie have moved a little shallower. 4 more casts cemented my dinner plans, it was now time to experiment with some different baits and lines…

The white Nikko worm was well received and on 5lb braid they didn’t stand a chance. A new reel and another new bait got the call, and the best fish of the morning fell to a Eurotackle 1.5 B Vibe in white.

So with fish in tow, I texted the wife and told her the Crappie had cooperated nicely and I would be cooking my own Birthday supper.

Of course I always try to represent this great site while on the lake. When I got home I realized maybe math isn’t my best subject as I thought all morning I had 5 in the livewell.

Oops maybe I forgot how to cull or count, but one Crappie certainly escaped the knife and only 4 were to be prepared.

Sides of green beans and baked cauliflower with carrots complimented the Parmesan Panko baked Crappie. For the Oenophiles, Ruby is from a small winery in VA and has a deep raspberry and dark chocolate flavor, an excellent wine for the cook to sip on (me).

Yum yum. I enjoy all aspects of fishing but this is my favorite part. No TV on tonight, just some tunes on the speaker box

Blueberry Yum Yum finished off a great day. Thanks for all the birthday wishes and I hope to have many more like this one.

Looks good and Mr Denver there was a great musician. Back in the 80’s there were four songs that were being played at weddings. He had two of them. Just plain old natural talent.
Maybe they will bite this one……

Sounds like an interesting wine is well. I got into the different whisky flavors a few years back. I have yet to try many wines
