Not to replace the idea of the stradic, it’s still on a front burner. Got a little cash unexpectedly a couple of days ago and found one of the 10 bearing Diawa Regal 1000 I’ve been looking for and had to try it. I have a 2500 and it’s unbelievably smooth for the price. It’s my favorite to keep in hand when I’m on the coast, if I can get it away from my daughter. Updates after it’s here and used some. Now I can be a little smarter while I look for a stradic or who knows—- maybe a ballistic.

Those new Regals look nice. I think that they are basically a Legalis with two more bearings (one is in the spool, so only comes into play when drag is pulled). I've enjoyed using my Legalis 1000 over the last few years. It's very smooth and light for a mere 50-60 dollars.

That’s the same price that the Regal was. It came yesterday and I spooled it with clear two pound backing and some new 2 lb Nanofil that came the same day. It doesn’t have a very deep spool but I don’t know if it’s considered a shallow spool. In the backyard it outcasts my favorite lightning rod by about 8’ or so. I put it on the TSS and the balance is great. It gets wet tomorrow morning. Probably going to have to fight the BlueGillgirl for this one too.

Oh yeah, Skeet, that balance looks spot on and what a real sweet combo with that rod! The more I fish the TSS the more I love it. Yes, you might have to hide that setup! I’m going to buy a TCB for backup when they become available again.

Just went checking and a FYI for the gang. Amazon was way high at $93 and change, BUT Trout Magnet has them back in stock for $60, and BNM for $70. Just when I thought the debit card was safe. Anyway, a great U/L rod.
