Default Found them partying under the pontoons

Managed to catch around 20 and a flathead from under the toons. Pontoons produced fish tritoons not so much. Had to shoot the jig over half the length of the toons to get bit. They were tight to the tubes. Had to ahoot the jig under and knock the spider webs out of the way. They were under the toons that have not moved in a long time. Most had a thick layer of algae on the tubes. Got to watch the grass carp cleaning the algae from the tubes as well. Once the fog burned off the heat and the wake boats took over.

Russ Bailey from Brushpile Fishing swears by fishing aluminum docks, because he says the metal transmits the heat into the water. That might be the same effect.

Never thought about that. I do know there is an abundance of minnows in the shade of these Marinas. They were way back in the shade towards the walkway of the marina.

That is dock shooting on Chickamauga. Most all docks are floating. All the marinas are floating docks. The few wooden pole docks that you do find have cross members waiting to grab your jig. I learned to shoot on lake Guntersville. Lots of open space wood post docks and boat houses. The Chick made me relearn the game and forced to practice to shoot into those small openings

I can relate Jack. When I fished the lakes around Manchester it was all floating docks. You had to be able to hit a 6” square at 20’ in order to get deep underneath where the good fish live. Fell in love with the technique back then and use it most every time I fish now. Hard to put down something that works as good as shooting does. It’s not under docks much now but I’m under branches and logs now.
