    Default woodruff whacked US

got all excited about up2specks posts on going to Highland park fishing camp and ketchn loads of crappie. wife and I are down with our BFF's at their place in villages so my buddy Bymo and I got up early and made the early morning jaunt there and spoke to speckdetector who gave me some tips on where and what to do, thanks Jeff! unfortunately when we got there tho is was exactly as he said a wonderful old FL fishing camp including characters in the shop who gave us map and told us where to go did say hardly anyone caught day before but one guy! but went out and it was a lovely lil run to lake and got out and started with rigging and went around to good strech of lake but nada. then tried dipping along shore and all we got up were gators which was cool but no fish. went into creek dipping and I finally had a big monster grab my rig and take off in a whoosh! but got off and not a crappie. picked up sunfish and then Bymo got our one spec and a suprised a gator almost under our boat and huge noise and wake and he was done.

went back down into dead river on way back, dipping and then rigging in channel but besides one sunfish nada again. Oh well can't follow a great fisherman and expect to do what he did. Talked to couple of locals when we got back to dock and they only had couple or none. couple delberts like us from MO gave it a go but still woodruff and the camp was a great experience and bymo will definitely come back with his rv and boat and spend time as it was great place and great area to go to.

so far we are getting our one fish limit a day! LOL oh well, my partner is whacking them up at our place in Macon, MO. Plus captaincrappie is tearing up the trout back in LSL and sending pics to rub it in. that's fishing!

sorry to hear it was a slow day for bending the rods. But like you said, that is fishing. The best part of any trip is 'The going'. Thanks for the good report on a nice trip.

another good day at the office !

Sorry for results but even with fresh intel, HH, the fish eat when THEY want to... Good thing is you've experienced quite the one-of-a-kind location.

I’m familiar with that one fish limit. You’ll get them next time.

That’s Slab talking, the king of the one fish day!! Just shows you’re in good company. Sorry to hear of the slow day. I’ve done very well up there in years past, but I’ve also gotten my nose bloody too. Hopefully you’ll get a good day before you head home.
