Default Another fine panfish day Jan 06/21

My son in law, Scottie and I hit the lake to bluegill fish today. We had a very good 3 hours of fishing. 29 Bluegills and 2 Shellcrackers went home with me today for a date with the freezer.

Catawba worms and nightcrawlers did the fish in. The fish were in 15 feet of water or slightly deeper. North wind was a little chilly, but didn’t deter the fish. I found the fish on my graph and spot locked the TM and it was game on. I had a first for me. Catching 9 Bluegills and 2 Shellcrackers in a row on the same piece of night crawler. I have never seen a bait last that long. They wore the poor thing out. Grin.

Nice catch. What I find odd is bluegill in the lower lake at Nickajack are smaller fish.....I am assuming you are fishing headwaters of Nickajack. It is rare to catch numbers of 9 inch fish...8 inch are common. Shell crackers in the lower lake however attain good size...as do the redbreast sunfish. I just find that odd. Talked to a lot of folks who fish the lower lake and they tell me the same.

    Regards
