    Default My sons first deer

Little man decided he wanted to shoot a deer so I’ve been working with him shooting a scoped 10/22 trying to get him to understand eye relief and all that good stuff. We have been having a few issues so I decided to buy a phone mount for the scope so I could see what he’s seeing and help him. Well he was jumping up and down wanting to go shoot one. I’ve been off all week hunting every morning and evening so I decided to let him go. I told him the first thing that walks out we’re shooting. 140 inch buck, spike, doe, whatever we see. We got in the shooting house about 3 and at 3:45 a doe doe and a yearling walk out. We get all situated behind the gun and make it happen. The big girl hits the ground about a 120 yards shot. I was super pumped of course. He was excited too. He’s only 4.5 years old. He was shooting a 350 legend on a AR platform that I had a buddy build last year thinking of this very moment. He wasn’t too keen on the cleaning part so I let him slide on the blood on the face. I told him when he shoots one completely by himself he was getting the blood lol.

Had tenderloin on the grill tonight. Standard Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow, then I’m sure there will be many more nights of tenderloin. Last year I shot a deer and we ate tenderloin 7 nights in a row until it was all gone lol. Every evening when I would come home from work, I would ask him what he wanted for supper. Deer meat was the answer I got. Who am I to argue with that. We had it grilled, smoked, deep fried, and pan fried.

Wasn't that easy back in my day. Just fire hardened spears and loin clothes! Love seeing the little one with "his" orange vest on! Good job Dad!
