Lots of good deals to be had at garage and yard sales. Nice finds!
I admittedly have far too many rods to chase bluegill with.
I stopped at a local garage sale and left with a couple rods and $11 lighter in the wallet. I hadn't looked at the spinning rod close and found it had been a Quantum Xtra Lite UL 5' one piece. It had gotten broke and a nice fitting tip added. I liked the feel so I mounted a little Acadia ES50 reel. I don't think Arcadia are in business any longer, but the reels were what I like. I used the combo to take well over 200 gills and it just feels nice in my hand . The length came out to 6'. I'll call an easy win on that one.
The other rod is a Pflueger Summit SFY 56-90 9' im6 It had a reel but I decided to tape a Shakespeare Deceiver MTL3. The gathering guide is 23" from the reel face so I doubt it will give me too much trouble.
The casts are short for the most part where I'll be using this strange setup, but I think it'll be fun .
I just done a couple yard casts and I'm ok for the canal width so I'm anxious to get it on the bank.

Hard to beat the price and if you’re really unhappy it will be at your next yard sale! LOL

It's easy to talk of good yard sale finds but like the folks that hit the casinos, there are losses they don't talk of.
I trashed 3 reels today that were low end when new, and were not worth the effort to get it up and running.
Good find, you’ll have some fun with em. Money well spent.
