Like the leather glove touch ....lol.... actually some might be surprised the river is full of them, usually caught by accident, but they are extremely sensitive to colder water, have seen hundreds floating dead in winter's past, but been a while.....a throw back (dinosaur) like bowfin for sure......

Nuisance, I would not have released him back to the river !!
The finest gift you can give to any fisherman is to put a good fish back, and who knows if the fish that you caught isn't someone else's gift to you?"

Way back a few years ago when we had about a two week freeze down here = I drove my boat across lake Poinsette and it looked like God had
sprinkled pepper all over the lake = What it was were those fish's noses sticking out of the water where they had died and just their noses were
sticking up = thousands of em. And the talapia were dying too, Chuck took me to a place where they were holding cause the water temp was
higher due to a spring runoff and me and him loaded up on talapia by casting treble hooks out and snaggin em .....

Over this way the Indian (Hindu) folks get out there on the lake and throw cast nets to catch those fish = they say they are a delicacy, they
cover them in curry powder and cook em skin on then when done peel the skin off etc, etc, etc ......

The problem with them is they burrow holes in the bank for nests and eventually cause the banks to fall in ...
They "ARE" an invasive species and should be "KILLED" every time ya catch one ! ! ! !

Don't stick yer finger in their anuses either ! ! !
