I don’t know but if you cut that out won’t the back deck get swamped when you shut down after running? The wall won’t be there for the water to hit

For this video, start at about the 2:00 mark. They're cutting the splashwell out. In a later episode, they put pieces in, making it smooth.
I was thinking something like that, if I wind up doing away with the splashwell.

I had a 17’8” Bumble bee with a splash well. Friend had an 18’ Bumble bee without the well and the following wave when he shut down once came up together the base of the rear seat mount. I would keep it if I could. Keep doing your research and if you do away with it, consider upgrading the bilge pump to Accommodate any excess water intake, an automatic pump of course.

Wouldn't it be easier to cut that back wall to accept the thicker transom, and still have the splashwell?

Just read this from the beginning. Is there a couple of layers of mat and resin over the stringers and knee braces? Though treated, I see some of the wood looks to be standing alone and without any mat. This is where some of the strength and a lot of the durability comes from. All of the stringers I’ve ever seen and worked with have had at least an eight of an inch of glass over them. The smaller curves that the mat has to make when covering the stringers is better done with 3/4oz mat or glass cloth. Hate to see you do all this and have it not last due to water intrusion.
