    Default Screen choices

Since getting the LiveScope my Helix 10 Mega Gen 2 has been relegated to navigation for waypoints and sonar (split screen) to confirm brush under the Bird transducer (mounted on the TM). I did the recent update and now need to redo the screen choices. I use sonar, DI, SI and Nav mostly. Any suggestions on what screens to activate and which to keep hidden? Sounds like a basic question but I may be missing some opportunities. Roy, feel free to chime in.

I like SI in a view (or combo view) that utilizes full screen width ...

For 2d and or DI - any view - then remove the top of the water column using Upper Range ...

I do not have visible redundant views (ie. multiple 2d views, multiple DI views, etc) ...

Just exactly the type of input I was hoping for. This helps me eliminate clutter and focus on the Helix 10’s capability. Thanks, Rickie.

If I was going to use a 2nd unit up front then I like Rickie's ideas. Removing the top of the water column is really helpful. I have 2 HB units setup this way at my console. I also eliminated allot of screens from my views from both units as there are many I never use.

As you've heard me say I really love my Ultra 12" unit on the bow with Livescope. I have good maps on this unit that I can use but so far I haven't had the need. Stopping near brush or other structure I plan to fish and having a general idea where it is located from the units at the console so far I haven't used maps or created any waypoints on my Garmin bow unit. I've found that I really don't even throw out marker buoys nowhere near as much much as I used to.

It seems a shame that the HB unit at your bow is mostly now used for mapping but I understand,

I may have understated the use of the Helix 10. I use SI in conjunction with LiveScope to locate brush or underwater structure. I also use sonar/DI to get a feel for it also but lately I just use the Nav feature on my Helix to get me on established waypoints marking brush/structure that I have found or deployed. Once there the LiveScope becomes foremost for dropping the jig or minnow to the right depth, monitoring the fish behavior (they like the jig or should I change size/color) then to see when they are looking to take the bait. At that point I focus on the line and rod just like I did prior to LiveScope.

Guess I get the dunce award. Reviewed as many settings as I could, went back to the manual, went online, and still cannot find the Upper Range toggle. Pls start me from a major heading on top categories on Helix 10. Thanks in advance. Dennis

If you have the 2D screen selected, get the express menu by single pressing the menu button....There is an upper and lower range setting.

If you open the manual with Adobe PDF reader there is a search feature that is very handy to find things.

It should be available on the regular 2D sonar screen .... not sure about the DI screen.
