    Sorry to hear of your mishap Ray. I got a small crappie jig in my pinkie finger a few years ago. Always told myself I’d be “tough” enough just to yank it out. Not! Ended up at urgent care as well! They are great for small stuff like this.

    Unfortunately I've also had a crappie jig and a bass plug stuck in my hand. I was able to extract both of those myself but this time I managed to stick both my thumb and index finger and I couldn't manage both at one time. Luckily I have pliers with a split ring tip so I was able to easily get the hook off the 5" spoon that was dangling from my hand.

    I keep a good pair of dikes/nips on the boat. That way I can cut shank of hook (or split ring) and easily separate from dangling jig head, spoon, plug, etc. I keep the nips in the first aid kit now.
