    Default Trying some new things

Not having a lot of success but figure a bit of failure is better than SK getting on us about not moving around and trying different things (smile). We can find crappie deep (over 25 feet deep) and over brush but one day they bite and the next they do not bite. We have had some success going smaller (1/32d) and since our water is clear we have been going to blue ice, monkey milk and other more natural looking jigs. Some days they will not take anything but a minnow on a bare hook. When we do get a hungry one they are big and beautiful. Here are a couple from today.

That's the way to Stay At'um..... I'm just glad to hear you're not giving up like so many would do.....I always say they can't catch a plane, bus nor drive in a car away from the lake so they are there...... You just have to figure out what's gonna make them bite and where.....
You're totally correct those are BIG and BEAUTIFUL.....

Just as an FYI colors that can still be seen at that kind of water depth gets less and less. Blue and violet are the two color that can be seen farther in the water than other colors and Florescent and UV colors extend how far colors can be seen. By this I mean tested in clear water the last regular color to be see is Blue with Violet just behind, but adding Florescent or UV color extend the distance a lot!

For a regular color I love Copenhagen Blue! So I would also look at Royal Blue and maybe add some Black, like Black/Blue/Black and see what that does? Also wouldn't pass looking at least one time at the Gray Ghost jig!

At any rate, just enjoy the experience and being out on the water!

Just ordered some great (and small dark) jigs from Pepop. His jigs are fantastic so we are going to try some smaller and darker jigs. Handtiedcrappiejigs.com
