ticfaw and tfunky always seem to be having fish following Jig Rig around???lac des allemand also....might have good catfishing around the bridge...
I’m off on vacation til the 14th and wanting to take a break from hunting to go fishing a couple times. I usually don’t fish this time of year but with 2 deer in the freezer and a new boat sitting under a cover with only 4 hours on the motor, I’m eager to take it out. Plus my 2 boys have been asking to go for months. Any suggestions on where to go around BR? I don’t care what we fish for - sacs, bass, catfish, etc. Just want to get on the water next week. Thinking about looking for some bass at False River since I can run the boat a lot if I’m not catching anything. Also thinking about making a trip to Leeville/Grand Isle one day next week but not sure where to go freshwater fishing. Thanks in advance.

There is more water to fish around Baton Rouge than most people think.
JigRig has constantly caught fish in the rivers just east of BR, Des Allemands and Verret are a couple lakes not far with canals and bayous and like you said false river is not a far drive either.
I’ll be fishing the Des Allemands area this weekend launching out of Freds in South Vacherie.

Thanks for the suggestions. My problem is I grew up fishing Old River and have hardly fished anything else. Can’t fish it right now so I’m looking for other options.
I’ve fished Verret a couple times, Henderson once, and False River a handful of times for bass, none this time of year. Never been to Des Allemands but want to one day, might look into it for next week. I’ve seen JR’s posts and would like to venture to those rivers one day. Seems like all this rain will have them messed up for at least a few days though.
What part of Verret would be good this time of year, the lake or canals? I’ve caught good around the edge of the lake before during the summer time. The easiest thing for me with the boys would be to go to False River since it’s so close. I’m planning to go chase some reds and specks when they go back to school Wednesday.

It’s been several years since I have fished the north end but I know the canals on that end produce fish.
I launch out of the attackapas landing near napoleonville and head west to the point past a canal. Most catch cats with a couple spots that have produced crappie.....I may not be the best source of info for verret.

Sugarfoot, I'll be watching for a report on the LAC. I'm interested in learning to fish that area.
