Default Kayak Trip Report, Aldredge Creek

I made a short trip this morning to Aldredge Creek for dinner. Released 5 small Crappie, kept half a limit of gills and shellcrackers. The water was 77 degrees at daylight, with visibility of about 18 inches. Gills came of a 1/32 oz white beetle spin. Crappie were all next to a small piece of brush in only three feet of water, but I couldn't find any more. I'll sure be glad when it cools of some, to dang hot for September.

Sho nuf. I hope the weather guessers are right for next week. If so, we're about 3 days left from the end of summer temps, at least on a consistent basis. OH, I hope they're right. The first 68-70 degree day of fall is my favorite day of year. That way I know we're at least 6 months away from more 90 degree temps.

As far as summers go, this one has been sort of tolerable, but the hot weather started earlier and has lasted longer.

I agree, not a lot of upper 90's, but it's time for the heat to go.

I can't wait for Wheeler to fall another couple feet and the days to be 70's with nights in the 50's.

Also be glad to see the water fleas put away their toys!

I fished Town Creek on Lake Wilson this spring for Shellcracker. A had one afternoon with a 30 foot power boat pulling a skier going by within a 100 feet of me every 5 minutes. I haven't been back since.

Interesting- water temp on Eufaula at dawn was 85. This was up in a creek mind you, but still quite a difference. Congrats on a nice day.

this creek has a shallow inflow area, typical water temp at daylight is usually close to the outside temperature.

The plus is Crappie will come into this creek early during the spring because the afternoon sun will heat it several degrees warmer than the main river also.
