Yup, I need to get some beetle spins. Thanks for sharing.
After reading the suggestions to use a Beetle Spin, I forced myself to try it. Once I caught the first few fish, I changed the soft plastics in order to see what worked. Most did. Crappie, small bass, sunfish and pickerel all hit it with gusto. Here are a few examples:
It caught fish using a shortened green Slider Worm, Crappie Magnet Grub, Spring Grub with curl tail and a few others.
Fish also hit wacky rigged worms and very large fat sticks:

I like beetle spins, using different sizes and jig weights I can control the retrieve speed and depth.

I like using them with a curl tail, which holds them a bit higher in the water column, while I slow roll them in front of finicky fish. Always in my box.

What's the heaviest jig you use with the Beetle Spin? 1/16 oz seemed to do the trick along with proper hook size.
The curl tail did fine along with the Crappie Magnet, Slider worm and thin soft stick. I going back to my inventory to find what else
might be compatible. The spinning blade did wonders adding to the body and tail quiver that provoked strong bites!
Thanks for posting about the B.Spin today and in the past. One good thing other than catch rate - dang pickerel can't bite off the jig
like they did 6 times yesterday. *$*@#*

Usually 1/16 --- I got some tiny beetle spins I use smaller jigs with.

Try it with a road runner and a paddle tail
Also don't forget the venerable Road Runner. That's basically a reverse beetle spin. And if you use a marabou version, you don't even have to worry about plastic replacements.
