Default No more boat titles required

Sounds good and might save some money n headaches. ..until your ol boat gets stolen anyhow.
"The Illinois Department of Natural Resources is making some changes to boating registrations, titles and fees associated with water usage stamps.

Watercraft that are under 22-feet in length will no longer require a title. Plus those who own kayaks, canoes or paddle boards will no longer have to buy a water usage stamp"

Better buy some padlocks n ammo.

My nieces and nephew gave me a 1976 Lund 16 foot tri-hull with a 25hp motor.Does the new law mean I don't have to register the boat in my name? What about trailer plates?

Dunno about expiration date. It would probably be wise to register the Lund and trailer in your name next time they come due.

Hmm how does that work. Somebody steals an identity, buys a $70,000 Lund under 22 feet then sells it cheap by saying “you don’t need a title in Illinois” which unsuspecting buyer confirms for himself, pays cash and the seller skips town. Meanwhile new owner goes to get his boat registration and can’t. Sorry but these toys are too expensive not to title properly. glad they kept it optional. Maybe they should switch to a block chain system.

I ended up having to register the boat and trailer in order to get insurance.
