Congrats, I have been retired a little over 4 years. My advise would be to stay busy.
Congratulations on your retirement. I will be looking forward to seeing a bunch of your fishing reports and pictures now that you will have more time to fish.
Be safe and good luck fishing

Congratulations on your retirement. I can't wait until its my turn.
If you were on trial for being a Christian would there be enough evidence to convict you??

I cant answer that for you, but I can say that money is not everything. I made a career switch for less pay 3 years ago. I now don’t come home daily stressed and wore out. It was well worth the ~20% pay reduction.
The more you make the more you seem to spend. I think if I had to go back to that higher paying career I would have to force myself to put the extra money in retirement savings so that I could retire earlier. That is the only way it would be worth it.
You don’t know how many days you have here, so why chase money and be unhappy. That is what I now have learned.

Well I don't want to hijack your thread but I'm only a weeks away myself. Feb 14th is my last day after almost 36 years.
I tried retirement but couldn't handle not working. Now I escort oversize vehicles all over the country on a part time basis. I'm able to do it part time as I have my own vehicle and work about 40-50% of the time. It's a good balance and if I want to fish I can fish. If I want to work I can work. Works for me.
If we did what was most important in life there would be a shortage of Bibles.................and fishing poles
14 months for me to go. I know like every body else I will find something to keep me busy. My dad retired and back at work within the month. Now at 86 he is putting in three days a week at Wal-Mart. Plus my boss said we aint letting you go. Ok three days a week. Did I hear the fish calling my name?

Congrats on your retirement. Many look forward to the day, but many have their days cut short. It is a blessing, enjoy it and give thanks. To me, it really is like 6 Saturdays, and one Sunday. Just celebrated retiring 4 years ago.
Besides, I hear fishing is safer than hunting...
