Last Thursday, even with a good North wind, it appeared as though there was a current moving North......while I was tight lining with shiners, my line angled toward the North.....?????.....
They closed the gates below the pontoon bridge, yesterday, to hold the level at 9 feet (NAVD 1988) at the pontoon bridge. This usually messes up the fishing for a while but once it settles the fishing should be good. If it doesn't rain too much the level of the lake should hold steady.

Wind forces water in strange directions when it's a closed system. If the locks were closed the water forced South by the wind would have to go some where else and that might be North in a narrower area that wasn't as effected by the wind. East wind in White and Grand Lake will push the Mermentau gauge up like a pump.
