Never fished that pool before but if there are creeks dumping into the river there should be crappie in them.

I used to Turkey hunt out that way a long, long time ago. Actually I guess more down towards Gallipolis. Used to be a lot of Mead Paper Land open to the public.
I loved going out there, it's a beautiful part of the state.
By trolling do you mean longlining (jigs out the back of the boat) or vertical (heavy weight & double minnow/or jigs fished on long rods) or crankbaits (out the back of the boat)?

We troll with the double minnow rigs slowly. We use long rods to get out away from the boat. I have rod holders on my bass boat up front, in the middle, and on the back because there's usually 3 of us. So we each fish with two rods and cover a lot of area. I have used jigs while doing this before but have never had the success we have with live minnows.

Go to you tube and put in crappie fishing Ohio lakes. Choose the ones you'd like to learn. Watch and listen to what they're saying to try. I've learned a great deal from the videos I watch.

When will the fall bite be strong in Ohio? About what date does it start?

Can't give a date as that will vary from year to year, but when water temps drop to the fifties, the bite gets going good.

I agree with Chaunc, it's all about the temps. Why wait though, there is really no reason to wait on a fall bite since crappie are fairly active all year.

Nicely put crappiemax in your first post.
I do pretty well a Eastfork but it the closest for me as well. I enjoy Cowan too and is closer than Rocky Fork. Have been wanting to try Paint Creek but seems so far. Have fished Deer Creek and was worth the drive.
18' brown Targa, 125 Merc, 9.9 kicker. Wave to me sometime I'm usually by myself. Fish on Weds or Friday.
