Great job Chris! Amazing day for you on Wister! My hope is that everyone who fishes the tourney catches at least one over two pounds. That would make this tourney VERY memorable for all.

Wister is a special place! I'm so glad I've gotten the opportunity to fish it the last few days, and again Saturday. Without the tournament, I probably never would have made the drive. It's an amazing place.

Size: 26.8 KB Tough bite, long day, post front funkiness. I never saw a boat stay in one place long, they zipped from end to end looking for fish. I elected to pound it out cause I could see fish on the finder, and I had minnows... . Lake either starting to turn over or wave action has reduced visibility and no thermocline. Shad at surface to 18+ feet deep. Fish bit well early and then it became more difficult thru the day. They bit well again late. Fish were deep, 12-16 feet. Used a jig+minnow combo again, fish favored minnows 80/20. 12 big fish 1.25 to 2.0 lbs, 8 medium, 8 small. No brush, just stumps. Prolly could have caught bunches of dinks if I was willing fish the piles. Fish were there, they just were not biting well. Things will prolly turn around after some warm days.

Size: 36.2 KB Two at 1.5, two at 1.75 & two small fish = one tough day. Water was 71-73, vis was 12-16". Fish were scattered from 6 to 18 feet. But, they mostly were stuck to the bottom with muddy bellies. Fished 1/4 TT WSD jigs on the bottom with Franks plastics and a minnow 16 inches above. All but one fish came off the jig, not cause they liked jigs better but because the fish were in the mud.

    Default Wister 2017 fishing reports

Fished Wister a week ago. Water started at 58 ended at 68. Vis was 10-20 ". Started shallow in brush-slow. Went out and fished the stumps, did good on big ones. Kept 14 over a pound, caught twice that many. Top 4 fish were: 2.8, 2.8, 2.7, 2.6 (lbs, ounces). I had to fish hard, it was not easy. I used jigs tipped with minnows and it was key to catching fish. I guess they wanted some color with their "kick". The combo far out fished a bare minnow or non-tipped jig. BG minnow minders one pink and one green. On 1/4 ounce TT weedless jigs. I am sure it has changed by now but the best depth was stump bases at 13 feet. Checked eggs, they were yellow with veins in them, and I caught males that were really dark also. Should be prime spawn for next couple weeks.Name: 20170318_102934.jpg
