Thread: Painting rod tips?

I used a base coat of white Krylon Fusion for plastic and then two coats of yellow florescent paint. It you don't put a white base coat on first the florescent will not give you good coverage. The action is the same. In a few years probably have to be repainted. The bright paint sure helps will spider riggin.

I skipped the base coat, and applied about 4 florescent coats. It worked, but in hindsight the base coat may have been the way to go. My "bright pank" rod tips were painted three years ago, and they are still very bright.

Another option is to use colored electrical tape of your choice. I used this on my rods and haven't had any issues. Same as with the paint, it will eventually have to be replaced at some point in the future.

In addition to the electrical tape, another less permanent method is to use liquid white out on the rod tips. After it dries, paint or color with magic markers. The advantage is that you can easily scrape it off with your fingernail if you change your mind.

It sure doesn't help my daughter, but then again the tip is in the water jerkin, before she sees it.

I usually do over kill on everything I'd do. I use white base, then floro green, then coat with a clear. Some been like that 5 years.

I lightly sanded the tips of my 14ft poles, then used 3 coats of Testers flouresent orange paint, works good
