I have been using Pine Squirrel Strips from Ken for over a month now and I wanted to offer a review. I LOVE his products as they are a great value, are of a professional grade, and they help make a super bait.

There are three main reasons to me why I like his product:

#1 He is consistent in his cuts whick helps me produce baits eficiently which means more family time and time on the water.

#2 I like his color variety and unique offerings (Pine Squirrel, Rabbit, Skunk, Cross Cut, Straight Cut)

#3 He has a more than fair price and delivered personal attention when ordering answering my multitude of questions.

I use his strips for both Crappie and Smallie Jigs and they work. I have popped some very nice fish for my area using his stuff as it is high quality. Zonker style for the Crappie then a crawfish pattern for the Bronze fish has been my best approach. I will be Trout fishing next weekend in Virginia and I will have Zonker flies, Mini Leeeches, and Double Bunny patterns in my box to chase after Browns and Rainbows. Plus the stuff makes some sweet collars and dubbing for my fly tying.

I can not offer any weaknesses to his product line at this time. For the past five weeks the baits I have made with his material has been working.

Bottom line: For many years I paid out the wazoo at the fly shop for a few strips at a high price - with these you get a high count of material for a great price in a multitude of color and style options. Can't be beat in my mind. In case you were wondering I paid regular price for my order and am not affiliated in any way with his operation - I just think he produces a great item. Feel free to shoot me any questions. I will try and post a photo of my craw pattern - it is a good one for sure.

    Thanks and take care.

I've never used rabbit fur. Which one of those would you use for tails? Crosscut or straight? Do you have a video showing how to tie one with a rabbit tail?

I have used it both ways, with a zonker tail and no zonker and just use Crosscut and that may be my favorite way. Here are a couple pics of rabbit both ways. However I even have some zonker cut tied like I tied Crosscut and will have a pic of that too.

    Skip

The ones on the left are strips cut like zonker and tied wrapping like I would Crosscut strip.

The one below is both a Crosscut strip for the body and the Zonker for the tail.

These I believe are Crosscut and ties in a the back of the hook and wrapped to the head and finished.
