im new to this forum and this year am getting into panfishing (mostly with a fly rod but with an ultralight spinning rod too), i live in the tri cities and was wondering if anybody could help me locate a few places to go for crappie this year. also does anybody know which of the I-82 ponds are best for crappie or bass.

    Hey Sharpshooter
I recognize you from the washington fly website. anyway the potholes and moses are good for crappie, banks lake has some nice ones also. i am heading over that way this weekend to try for a few. Not to familiar with the tri cities area or the yakima ponds.
Good luck with your quest. Jim

is there anywhere good to bank fish at potholes or banks lake, or a good small area in either that can be covered in a pontoon boat.

If you go to Banks, fish the pond inside of steamboat state park in the evening, right now is the prime time, they come in to spawn and will hit anything thrown at them, good place for a pontoon and flies. Potholes is good in Lind coulee another good place for a pontoon.

On Potholes you can fish the outlet of Moses (the spillway that dumps into Crab Creek) and catch crappies and bluegills there. There are a ton of great spots back in the dunes that you hike too as well. The dock at Mardon can be good in the late summer and early fall.

The north end of Soda Lake is good from the bank too. Some really nice crappies in there plus bass and walleye. Upper Goose Lake, Crab Creek, and Moses Lake State Park are other good bank spots.

The Snake River around Lyons Ferry would be best for numbers and size.
Fishing is nice, but I prefer to spend my time on the water catching :D
