Thread: When do the crappie start to spawn down at Silver Lake?

My little boy and I caught a lot of crappie (bream and perch too) off the side of the road down from the resort in November. Do they spawn in the same place?

I have the same question and swas hoping that someone would chime in, but i guess not, all I can say is that it should be earlier than most of the suronding lakes due to it's depth.

Its usally mid to late March. But with this type of weather who knows. Last year we had a blast catching crappie in March down in the canals. All catch and release. Heck, if we had kept 500 we still wouldn't have a half bucket.:D

yes they normaly start to spawn in March and some in April. Yes they spawn in the canals and rocky areas that have shelter.

Are they that small in silver?

The crappie are smaller in the spring from the fall catch. But with silver having a limit you will see the overall size going up! People are catching crappie on silver NOW. I would not hit it till Easter! but you diehards go for it.
Silver is a MUCH better fall crappie fishery. September look for open water brush also some docks are good too and the pad edge can be hot if you locate a school of crappie. October head for the canals. November head for my honey hole:D not in streeters canal. My best day on silver is over 800.
My best day for good sized was over 100 crappie over a pound and many over 1lb 8oz. And that will be the norm in a couple years. Silver has a ton of crappie amd it can hold lots more. Silver has lots of food for crappies and with more crappies the bass lots of food too.

when i was fishing the canals in the fall, i would say the average size was about 8".

it seems in the state of washington the average is 8....

i would agree with that for the most part. kinda sucks
