Red face Crappie in the Columbia?

My Brother lives in a House Boat on the Columbia near Portland.
I've tried to get him to set out a couple lines from his "Back Yard" where he parks his sailboat.

Are there any Crappie herds along the edges of that big river?
I just wish I could be better at fishing. Or maybe luckier!:D

Yes there are crappie in Columbia River we have fished the backwaters for many years and have done quite well in the spring also if you can find back water lagoons during the winter months you may find them held up one brush piles in deep water there is a wide variety of panfish in the Columbia I fish it below Bonneville dam also all the way up to passed the John Day damn and have caught fish is far As want to go .Also in the Portland area we used the face behind the Oaks Park used to be quite good go down the railroad tracks in the spring of the year there's a large culvert that feels a backwater lagoon the fish will come in for that pipe when the tide is going out.
