Check out Oconeechee or Rudds campgrounds.
The wife and I will be visiting her Aunt in Fredericksburg next week, and I was thinking of loading my pickup camper and the boat, then heading to Buggs Island for a few days crappie fishing. I want to stay at a Corps managed campground, because we get a 50% discount :D. I'd like a site where we can just pull the boat up on shore overnite, and hopefully plug in the charger. Can anyone make some recommendations on a campground to fit the bill? We have a truck camper with no bathroom, so a bath with showers is a necessity. We have been to Buggs once before and stayed at the state park. Any hints on where to find some fish and what they are hitting would be well appreciated! thanks!

Sandy creek is right next to Oconeechee State Park. You can catch good numbers of crappie in there or you can make a run up to Buffalo creek. A lot of us are catching them spider rigging and long lining. I've not found them in the real shallow water yet but they should be there by the time you come down. What's your preference for catching crappie?

Longwood campground is a corps owned site that has waterfront sites avaliable. The campground is located on Grassy Creek. I have stayed there several times and have loved it. They have a nice swimming area and playground for kids and the bath house has always been clean the times that I have been. Fishdoc could probably help you out with some spots to try in Grassy. Good luck and I hope you and your wife catch a bunch!!!

i love the corp. camp ground my self. not many places you can pull your boat right up to the site and leave it in the water. Facilities are top notch, atleast when i was there 2 years ago. and like you said Cheap$$$$$ :p
Thanks for the replies, I'll check out Rudd's and Longwood. The state park is very nice, but I don't get the discount there.
I stay at Rudds when I camp down there. Site 70E is very nice. You can beach your boat 30 feet from your tent/camper and its a Pull-Through so its easy to get into after dark. It is also right across the creek from a boat ramp.

For those of you who haven't seen it, Fishman78 has a wicked camper. Made by Honda. I had never seen one like it. Very cool. I forget how many it sleeps.
