    Default Top six baits?

I have succeeded in turning my business partner into a crappaholic(I had to so I could pawn Stercat off on someone else) and am putting him together a tackle box for Xmas. If you could only take six baits crappie fishing for the next year, what would they be? Not counting live bait stuff. I know the stuff that doesnt work cause I own it thats why I figured I would ask the pro's, semi-pro's, amatures, weekend beer drinkers and Shoer.

For casting, Bobby Garland Baby Shad in bone white/chartreuse for sunny days, black/chartreuse and black/pink for cloudy days. I've not had hardly any luck with blue ice on the Suffolk lakes but know that it's a great color combo at Kerr.

    For vertical jigging, Wasshoppah's.

    Same color combo's as above.

    Question Top six, huh ....

    Lessee ... that'd have to be :

    Roadrunner - marabou - chartreuse - 1/16oz
    CrappiePro solid body tubes - green/char - 1.75"
BPS Sparkle Squirt hollow tubes - elec blue/char - 1.5"
Charlie Brewer slider grub - junebug/char
Panfish Assassin grub - 1.5" Tiny Shad - Albino Shad
1 Doz each of 1/32 & 1/16oz weedless jigheads (Y guard or brush guard) made by Grousefly ... ask for #2 hook (your choice of color : bronze, red, gold)

(if none of these existed, I'd still be a minner fisherman )

Like everyone else, I own a lifetime supply of plastics that don't work most of the time--but you never know. Case in point:

I don't remember these 1.5" tri-color jigs producing a fish all season & was about the toss them out of my box. Then I started fishing at Pickett and discovered that this is THE lure for specs in that lake. They ignore blues, pinks, whites and other colors to slam this one.

Expanding on Tap's advice, no artificial's going to be magic on every lake and at all times of year, but there are basic items that should always be in your box, including:
    1. Slip bobbers (combine with almost anything in your box for a different presentation)
    2. Beetle Spins (combine with jig sizes & colors that are working & get more flash in stained water)
    3. Small bucktails, Pop-eye jigs, Pinkies, and similar jigs (extremely versatile; fish with or without minnows)
    4. RoadRunners (1/32, 1/16, and larger for deep or moving water; combine plain or various colored heads with almost any plastic tail) RRs bounce through structure with fewer hangups than ordinary jigs & appeal to all species of fish
    5. Various chart/chart & black/chart plastics (all styles & brands can be deadly)
    6. Bare round-head jigs with small barb (one dozen each): 1/32, 1/16, 3/32 or 1/8

Throw in a Monk's Crappie gift certificate for good measure!

I'd add to the list a spool of Sufix elite 4# either hi-vis yellow or clear. Can't go wrong with it throwing, jiggin, draggin, etc. Great line.

Well I blame it all on Obama. Mike & I were perfectly good pals before this past election, now I gotta be a honkey and ya know, dangit all, its, well both humbling & very very new to this ol country boy. Good thing Mike knows I have my Masters in B.S. and a minor in race relations. Getting drive-by'ed as a fair-skinned man of the North, this should be reason for much hysteria and general mayhem with riots breaking out on farms in Southern Minnesota complete with silo bombings, hoggz runnin' around with strap-on suicide bomber outfits you can get anywhere now $5.95 at Dollar General. Its a freaky world out there, or maybe this weed IS as good as its' billed. I know one thing fer sure and that's that its a cryin shame because of some backwards hokey laws the poor ace and my vote fer Indoor Gardner of the Month cannot come out and recieve the recognition due him. I'd be privaledged just to shake the mans hand and kiss his ring. Acts of indoor
mastery like this should not go unheralded and gimme a hubba hubba if you can relate. This man should grace the cover of Organic Gardening magazine, plain & simple. I have just practiced love of the same nature making my batch of Mexicali Surprise and do not like it if my efforts and achievements go unlauded. This individual obviously took great care to kick out a superior product and were it up to me he would not only be knighted & sainted but be given a free 24 X 36" poster of him and Bob Marley gittin down. Wipe that shameful secret clean off/n yur face PanMan. You let the cat outta the bag when mysteriously you were making references to Lighter Shadesof Pale by Procol Harem and coincidently NASA was gunning defective satellites outta the galaxy before they come crashin down upon one of us poor souls innocently tied up to the 2nd bridge at Diascund. I can tell ya for a fact if Boudreaux is ridin in The Onion and a flaming meteor punches a hole in my tub thru the floor between his and my bench seat, the doo-doo gonna hit the fan as my good friend C-Rexasaurus wood say. You think hes about a bubble off now let a bouncing Betty detonate thru the floor of my precious Onion and see what his mindset is.

Thanks alot, I am going to do some digging around to find some of this. I have never seen the Bobby Garland or the wassappah's for sale but I read the reports. I guess I will have to order some of it. Also I meant to list Shoer at the head of the list not the end and I am starting to think he is in a world of his own not class of his own!!!!

    Thanks again
