Finished!!!!!
That one word only takes up over half an inch of screen but dang if it ain't one BIG word. As of 8 pm We finished picking beans. I thought at one time this evening that Harvest was just lasting too long. I was driving back with the grain cart to catch another load and was getting ready to go through the gate to the field when just out of the light I saw something big and white coming towards me out of the blackness. I told myself " Welp, here comes Jesus. looks like my harvest is over." turned out to be a dang horse. Could have been that pale horse that is talked about in Revelations but thank God there was no rider on him. He walked right by the front of my tractor at a snails pace like He had all the time in the world and not knowing that He had torn this poor Bean picker slam out of his frame. He found him some nice green grass and then commenced to grazing. I went and caught my load. when coming back, I noticed he was no longer in the green grass. He had moseyed up the road and was now grazing on My green wheat!!!! Wore slam out and tired, I felt a new energy start to fill me. I could feel that stark raving rage that only the deer pull out of Me. The 223 was not going to do the job this time. I was going to have to break out the heavy artillery. Just as I was stopping the tractor to get the 300 mag out of the case, The owner stopped and got the horse quickly out of the field. Good thing He did. I was about to become the Grinch that shot Christmas.
I am now going to get the Crappie Combine prepped for harvest. Sent the "little Woman" to Bass pro today to pick up some Jumbo spools of Trilene XL and I get a phone call that all the 4 pound Jumbos are gone and only 3 small spools left. What is with You Virginy Boys grabbing up all the line?!!!! She got everything I needed and am going to start prep tomorrow while also debriefing the bean equipment. Going to go eat a Bojangles biscuit now so I can wake up in the middle of the night and have to jump hurdles like an olympic runner to the bathroom.CF

Pest management 101. If a stalk of corn volunteers in a bean field, it is a weed and You kill it. If insects infest, You spray them. If deer graze, You shoot them. If a dang horse eats Your wheat, well, no exception. Kill em all!!!!!CF

I have been farming now for 15 years and still feels like a 1000 pounds coming off your shoulders when You get through. Usually doesn't really hit You till the next day when all of a sudden, Your not going 10,000 MPH anymore. It is also in a way bad because you get so used to going, going, going and then STOP. The rush is still there but nowhere to go. Do a lot of figiting until your mind gets used to the slower pace. The relief is great though. CF

Just kick back & relax Farmer. Undo a cpl buttons at the waist of yur overalls, kick back and give the boys a good scratch while reminiscing about being done combining and go ahead count yur money to yurself also. You reach a point of discovery, a realization that you are so filthy rich you can take yur boys downtown and pay someone to custom-scratch them for ya. Bring gloves in case it gits serious, nuthin worse than grabbing ahold of chapped ears.
