    Default Bunk Boards

Anyone know of any local Boat/trailer dealers that might stock a 8 foot carpeted bunk board? I have looked online but can only find shorter bunks.

I have never myself seen them for sale as such. Rebuilt my nitro trailer last year and just purchased two salt treated 2x4's cut them to length; drilled bolt holes as needed; cut two pieces of carpet and used a air compressor stapler to attach the carpet. Put your carrage head bolts thru the hole before attaching the carpet. Wasn't hard at all and took very little time.

Thanks AC. Did you get the carpet that is specifically sold for bunks or did you just use Lowes outdoor carpet?

I did the same as Andy. You can get marine carpet at Lowes.

10/4 on that Bill. The bunkers need so small amount of carpet getting the marine grade should not be a factor I would think. I did have a piece of indoor/out-door carpet laying around so that is all I used.

Redear I measured my carpet if I remember right to cover the top, two sides and the two edges meet half way across the bottom side of the two by. Put your bolts in and lay the board top side down on the carpet. Take the one side and fold it over to the bottom side and staple it keeping the edge in the middle of the two by. Once stapled you can pull the other side making the carpet tight wrapping the board and staple it also. Fold the two ends over and staple. Your done other then mounting it.

I did the same except no carpet and on a lot bigger scale- 4 2X10's 20 feet long....bolted together sidewaya and used pvc (plastic fence 2x4) for runners instead of carpet.

mine had the old flat style 4 board set-up and i swapped it to the 2 board on the edge deal.....way bigger scale i guess- 26ft and 5500 pound boat
