Last year at the NW trying to overtake panman my boat wouldnt go but would still idle fine. After a couple more trips i found that if i ran anything but full trottle it would be ok. But as soon as i went full trottle the rest of the day it wouldnt even get on plane. The next time i take it out it runs fine again until full trottle. It seems like something is sticking or maybe not returning after going full trottle. I have checked the carbs they are very clean. Motor is a 2000 40 Merc power trim. Has only had a gallon of oil in it since it was new so has very low hours. Any ideas before i take it to the shop? Thanks Tony
I'm not familiar with oil injected motors. Sorry I can't help.

I have a 99 Merc 40. Mine did about the same thing awhile back. Take off the cowl and air intake and make sure your carbs are spraying fuel and not dripping it. Also look for oil accumulated in the barrel of the carbs. Rebuilding the carbs fixed my problem. Be careful when the air intake is off. Mine backfired on me a few times.

There are some pretty good, helpful internet forums that can help ya. I know, the mercury board at bassboatcentral can help. And IBeenF'in hangs out at a few and should be able to give you some guidance.

Is your gas fresh? Do you have a water seperator filter on it? Do you use Sea Foam?
