Default OT: I have never smoked a pipe......

well not a tobacco pipe anyway :D
but I have been around a quit a few old timers who do.Not sure what they smoke but it smells the best I have ever smelled.I'm going to go get me a pipe (not to smoke, just for the smell) anyone have any ideal what the old fellers smoke that smells so good?

I have bought 8-10 different flavor cigars this week & none of them smells like the pipe the old timers smoke.

Choosing Pipe Tobacco - The Key to Smoking Pipes | NotSoBoringLife.com

    Heres some bathroom reading.
I just spent a week with step dad and step uncle and they both smoke pipe. Ol man had a corn cob pipe and uncle had one of those swoop down carved wood ones. Look kind of cool. Pops smoked a vanilla flavored, ok but not too good. Uncle had a cherry blend that was a darn good smell. I can't remember the name brand but it was bought at the grocery store and was cheap. Both of em have the same brand. Believe me if the ol man bought it to go in his corn cob pipe it was cheap. Still wasn't too bad. I'll try to find the name brand.

I don't smoke either, but I agree. Capt. Black is supposed to be a good one. Try it in your wifes Pot-pari (little thing with the candle under it for giving off nice smells). Works about half way.

My grandpa smoked them a lot....I LOVED that smell. Now when I smell it I get the nice smell plus the nostalgia of remembering him.

I know he smoked this stuff that was in a black bag and I believe was called Sir Walter Raleigh....I can't find it online but here is a site with some reviews of it:

TobaccoReviews.com: Blend Detail: Brown & Williamson - Sir Walter Raleigh

    Man it smells good...

    Exclamation Bluegill ....

When I smoked a pipe, back years ago .... I smoked Borkum Riff. Can't remember which one of their products it was, but it did have a very pleasant aroma.
If you've got a Cigar/pipe tobacco specialty store in your area, check with them. They can usually tell you what brands or blends are the most popular, and may even be able to tell you which ones produce the aroma you seek.

You might also want to check out all the info on Borkum Riff : Borkum Riff
