Default OT Corn is kicken My butt, but....

It is turning out better than I thought. We are in our last 100 acres and the variety is a good one but we had no rain on it most of the growing season. It put on 1 good ear and then put on a secondary ear about 3 inches long that never pollinated. That is the problem. The little cob is jamming in the stripper plates on the corn header and can only go about 100 yards before it looks like a bush has grown on the header with packed stalks. I broke out an old peanut vine cutter to use in unclogging the header. It wore my %$# out today. Only picked 15 acres when we have been getting 65 acres a day. trying to beat the rain that is coming. Won't make it if this keeps up but I think we are in the worst of it now and hopefully it will smooth out. I hope so or I will be dead.

Saw a new invader today. what I first thought was a very unusual Bear sighting today turned into My first Wild boar sighting. Looked like one of them russian Hogs. Black as %$#@ with long tusks. Had a wild look about him and would do a crazy move every once in a while. Just jump around like He was looking to ruin someones day for sure. Had to keep an eye open while We kept jamming up for him just in case he made some wild charge. He is lucky My rifle was not in the truck today. He needed to be smoked just by the way He was acting. Thats all I need. Jam ups on a very regular basis and a shirly wild boar stalking me. Hope He ain't stupid enough to try anything while I'm jammed. I am already mad enough to drive the combine into the woods and bail off to watch the show. I could go one on one with him and have fun during those times. Both of us wild eyed for sure. Could you imagine the language? If the words were repeated on Crappie.com from that incident, It would put the whole sight into lock down!:DCF

Ya know CF, if you only fed the critter, you know, share. It worked great with Mater! I gave him what I didn't want and in return he never came back in the garden, he didn't have to. I recommend you stop production every hour and feed that bore some organically grown veggies, remember- chemicals could hurt their little tummies. If you were really nice you could call the local vet and pay to have the animal checked out thoroughly. Might try using some of that dough from your Owl Foundation.

CF how about a webcam on the combine, I think a match between you and that boar might be fun to watch. We had one chase us when we were working in the woods at Fort Bragg, geologist ran, I climbed a tree allmost fell out I was laughing so hard as he ran around trying to get away. He got to the drill and got up the derrick faster than any squirrel I've ever seen. The next morning our 200gal mud tub was turned over from the hog wallowing in it.

Bactu, A little lead goes a long ways to ending that problem!:D

Boscoe, That dude ain't no joke. He ain't your ordinary Hog. saw him again today. he came out to a clearing in the field and was eating some corn from a little spill off the grain cart. He saw the combine and took off like he was in a bind from one of Shoer's smoked eggs. he ran to a ditch on the far end that is a good 20 feet wide and jumped slam over that sucker. I have never seen a hog do that before. Did not know one could pull off such a feat. Watched as he tore through the bean field on the other side running and shaking his head like something wild out of hell. I'm tellen Ya man, that thing has got to go. Was out in the corn this morning and was listening and looking for anything weird. Got to be a Russian hog. Don't know where he came from but I know where He is going. especially if he keeps putting on those crazed displays like the last two.

Roybuoy, I can't ride that fine specimen of a killing machine on the combine. An instrument with that kind of accuracy has to be treated with some delicacy. Ain't got nothing against riding a scatter gun for a few rabbits for a stew but not seeing any rabbits. As for the boar, I have Boar tags but don't know if season is in. Might have to open it up for a few minutes anyway.:DCF

How big is it Farmer? I have plenty of feral hog savvy but know very little about those huntin preserve variety boars.
Then again, that sounds awfully much like a Mexican Jumping Pig????????

East TX is known as The Pineywoods, for self-evident reasons. The feral hogs in that part of the state have developed a subspecies that is jokingly referred to as a "Pineywoods Rooter". They have an extremely long snout, are unusually stickle-backed,
and saying has it that when you process a Pineywoods Rooter you get a lb of bacon and 5 qts of pine tar. They live in the pine forests and live off a lotta pine mast, pinon nuts, bark. Their snouts have gotten long from rooting into the feeder roots of the pine trees for food.
Take plenty firepower to the party, exceptionally big mistake to only make one mad and find out yur undergunned.
    Fire in the hole.:D

we need to revive the celebrity death match. Farmer's boar with an Owl masscot and Back2's couger with a ground hog masscot.:D That would be a good show.
