Corker and I wanted to explore some waters untainted by the legion of Crappie.com pillagers. We went to Beaver Creek Reservoir just outside Charlottesville and spent a full day giving it our best shot. I'll let Corker post the body count - he kept a tally. This trip ended up being more about quantity than quality but we are OK with that seeing how we had the quality last week...:D
I'm not sure what pictures he might have to post - hopefully he will chime in with his input. I didn't take any (sorry) but that doesn't mean there weren't a few photo opportunities. One was when we both noticed a pretty young lass fishing all on her own. As we remarked how unique it was to see a solo woman fishing we were treated to another unique event when her plumbers crack (yeah, unfortunately it looked exactly like that) jumped out her drawers. I took full advantage of the gawking opportunity while Corker gallantly averted his gaze.
What else...? Oh yes, Corker continues to amaze me with his youthful agility. He scampers about that jonboat like a squirrel in a tree. Except this squirrel dropped our basket of fish over the side and it sank like a concrete acorn!Corker was lightening quick trying to snag it with various instruments but it was a lost cause. He had a fish fry in the making with crappie, bluegill and oh-so-plump white perch so I think he's gonna need a meat trip soon with one of you weekday warriors.
There's other stuff that happened but I forgot already. It was another good trip with Corker.
Glad I could help
Sure sounds like fun. Keep up the good work.

Now why'd you have to go and describe the unfortunate live bag incident as "dropped over the side!" I was planning to characterize that as "catch & release."
Oh, well, it could have been worse. If that had happened last Saturday, you would have seen Corker go over the side to retrieve the bag. Today, the bag held a couple (each) of nice specks, gills, and white perch. All together, I tallied 50 fish for the day, but as Wasabi indicated, the typical size was small to medium. Looking back to last spring's posts, there were reports of nicer fish in April. That means there are still some nice ones & we haven't paid enough dues yet.
The plump gills came as a surprise, hitting minnows fished near the bottom. Here's Wasabi studying the manual to determine exactly which kind of bream we had found.
Using worms & more typical bream techniques, this lake should produce a very nice stringer of pan-sized gills. Also unexpected, the white perch were of nice size. Bass pestered us throughout the day, but I don't remember one being as big as a foot. BCR is supposed to have a decent catfish population & Wasabi was anxious to snag a couple for dinner, but Mr. Whiskers was nowhere to be found today.
The dam end of BCR is almost 40' deep, but most of our success came in much shallower water with the fish suspended from 3' to 6'. Water temp was 74 most of the day.
This facility has a cement ramp (watch the drop off at the end), and a nice paved parking area.
I have no comment about the young lady's.....well, you know....but the Blue Ridge view is great! Give the leaves a few more weeks and this lake will offer the most scenic fishing trip in Virginia.

Sounds like a good day guys! Glad you got into them.
I'll gladly let you have all my catfish at this point Wasabi.
Do gooder since April 26, 2009!
Great pics. Sounds like a good time for sure. Why no pics of the butt cleavage?
Why didnt you recruit the lady for the forum you boneheads? One good, solid female member in the right location could save us a lot on motels & meals when fishing waters in their area.
Good report, glad ya all had fun & caught some.
