Change of pace, havent fished Chick since spring. In 11:30, out 5:30. Found em shallow in the mouth of Laceys Creek, 3-5 ft of water. Parts of the creek are choked with SAV in places but it has a navigable channel. I had minnows here at the hizzle in the dogs pool and took some, caught 1 fish on the main lake when I first got there where the anchors from the construction barges
working on the cofferdam were buoyed last yr, caught 2 more there on Sliders. Found the fish pulling Sliders into the creek and never fished another minnow. I caught 18 of 19 keepers in one area there, submerged point itself and beginning of drop into channel of Laceys Creek. Caught 2 dinks on main lake and 1 in Laceys, also 1 small bass, 1 yella perch, a small blue cat. It wasnt fast & furious but good enuf that I never left to go further into the creek. The fish were holding in the SAV and the trick was to rip the Slider just above or next to it.
Heres the 2 colors did best.
Made crappie for supper last week, and down to 1 meal for 2, so kept fish for first time in a long time. All between 10-13 with quite a few ft-longs.
Beautiful day, little windy but not too bad.

WTG Jeff, nice mess of fish for sure.Glad you had abreak from all the horses.
I dont mind sharing info, heres the tree that is on the left as you enter Laceys Creek, hard to miss with that nest.
The pic is taken from Laceys, the 3 men in a tub are on the far side of the point near the main lake. The log in the left of the pic was my reference, caught fish all around it , maybe 25 yd radius. about 4 ft deep right at the log, shallower to the left, SAV also to the left.
Looking outta Laceys into mouth of Johnsons/Laceys Creeks.
Remember Oscar, George Allens little boy, who was our waiter one night at The Lakeside Restaurant? The guy who had a serious booger problem going down as he brought our food to the table, had to give him a tactful Hygiene 101 seminar.:D This is his puppy, Scott. Scott discovered I keep a healthy supply of dog treats in the truck and buddied up with me in a big way.
He was so glad to see me return he helped me tie The Onion down.:D
Oscar is in the boat but like Dayton, too short to be seen. Thats George and his friend, the 3 of em were heading out for a late session as I was fixin to leave. Scott attempting to eat camera thinking it is another treat from me.

nice pictures and post excellent mess of crappie
The fishing was good,it was the catching that was bad
Nice bunch of fish, I was thinking a couple of cool nights would stir em up!
Some of you may have noticed one of my trailer fenders floppin at the bash.
Not to worry, both wire & duct tape in truck. Top of bench seat has been cracking open around the pedestal, evidently weight of seat is too much for it.When I got in at the ramp it gave on one side so I made sure I didnt have my fingers wrapped under the bottom of the seat, also my nads, anticipating complete failure and seat suddenly going all the way thru and flush against bench. Sure nuff as I was fishin, BAM, down we went. Was glad I had the foresight to not have fingers or nads under seat when it did.
Just as well, fixin to put something more comfy in and will cut a piece of sumthin to fit over bench seat and bolt thru to mount pedestal on. Either that or mount toilet ring there, make port-a-jon-boat outta it, fish from front.

Sounds like a good time. Is Tony responsible for you throwing those slider jigs? I've heard that he has one heck of an endorsement deal with them folks.

nice mess of fish
Awesome catch Jeff. They look nice!
I'm trying to picture where that creek is...I know that lake well but don't know the creeks by name. Is that the creek just "up-lake" from Ed Allen's, on the right hand side as you're going up-lake?
Nice job Shoe. Thanks for the report and the pics.
Life's too short to fish with dead minnows!
