I had my NASA friends train their satellites on Western Branch. If you look close, you can see Tap staking out his entry in the big fish contest. Now, I just need to get them to use their lenses that can see under water.
This is NASA's World Wind 1.4 application with USGS Urban Areas imagery selected.

Nice pics Keith. Thanks. Is that something free or is it a pay site? How far will it zoom in and does it give the dates the pics were taken?
Interesting stuff. Terraserver/msn pics are about 10 years old. Mapquest pics for VA are only about 1.5 years. You can see a partially completed new West Point bridge.
Thanks,

It is free and you can get it here: http://worldwind.arc.nasa.gov/Originally Posted by Ranger690

World Wind can display images from several sources so I'm not sure how recent the images are. I'm sure a lot of them are from the early to mid 90s. The three I use most are 1m ortho, topo, and urban (hi res color). Urban is limited to a few areas. As far as how far it can zoom, I can see golfers on courses I'm getting GPS data on and I think I can see the aerators at WB.

It's true, but mac users can still use Google Earth. I thought when I started working 'great windows I can see what all the fuss is about. I am still wondering. YUCK. no click and drag without seventeen keystrokes, cumbersome and just not a mac.'
Rant over have a nice weekend.
What makes a better lightning rod than a graphite fishing rod? NOTHING!
I'm sure you can. I can see them plain as day including the buoys they have around them using weather.com's interactive radar view. The aerator on the left even has a boat fishing near it.Originally Posted by PanMan_VA

Hey, I can't get the program to work. One of you guys got time to take a few snapshots for me and email them to me?
