Thread: How often do you eat crappie?

I'm just curious. I usually just have it once a week but that sometimes slips to only every two weeks.

It's based on my trips, which generally results in a mess of fish, however the trips are few and far between... FAR between.

Never, I catch and release.

Now if it had said "fish" and not limited to crappie......twice a week-

When i have them i eat em everyday. Usually lunch and supper. But lately meals have not been many. Hopefully that will change Saturday and i will have some fillets and some moolah!!!!

We don't have crappie very often these days. My fish lover is away at college and our schedule lately has been crazy.

College boy comes home on November 20. He said he wants crappie and hush puppies for dinner that night. I guess I'll have to go and catch a fresh batch for him.:D

eat fresh crappie twice a wk bout half the yr. usually cook enuf for supper an a fish sammich (or 2) the next day. have to eat frozen the other half..due to my love of so many different kinds of fishin.

2-3 times a month pretty close for us but always enuf made for a 2nd main course of fish next day.
Thinking about it, I have my crappie eating in tune with my fishing frequency/success-have never been out of fillets if I wanted em and have never held back having em cuz was gettin low/not having much success.

I eat fish twice a week 52 weeks a year(maybe only one fish nite thanksgiving week). One nite of the week is crappie and and other evening is channel filets.
A crappie meal for us is three crappie or six filets. The spouse doesn't like fish so its four filets for me and two for her.
I had been baking my fish in the oven but someone on this board mentioned something about using rice bran oil to fry their fish in so I'm mainly frying them up using the rice bran oil. May have to go back to the oven if my next cholestral result shoots way up.
