Started off the day with a double, hadn't been on the water 20 minutes, then it was all down hill. Due to my excess of minnows I rigged all my rods with two minnows, didn't help. While the crappie were taking the day off the other species were more active. Caught a few small stripers, a couple bluegill, had a double of white perch, some yellow perch, and a couple gar, they're really getting active. I sure hope it improves for the bash next weekend. I hit quite a few of my honey holes but the crappie just weren't interested. I did get two pulling crankbaits, (brown/chartreuse) that makes 5 crappie on cranks this year, woo hoo. Oh well, at least it didn't rain.

Did you check any flats (deep or shallow)?

If you'd a known it was gonna be that bad ya coulda given me a hand painting the trim around and both outside doors this P.M. The prep was particularly fun. I dont do scraping/sanding unless necessary. I got a 3"
wire wheel for my drill and just grind it. Rounds all them 90 degree edges & gives it that feathered look I'm after.
Glad ya got out man.

I spend most my time on the flats. I don't even remember ever catching a crappie in the channel at Western Branch. I had my bottom minnow most of the time 8' or 10' but set them at 6' and 12' as well.Originally Posted by PanMan_VA
