Thread: Fountainhead report

Fished Fountainhead on 5/21. Total 26 crappie most 8" two 14" and two 12", two broken lines (big catfish) and three bass (biggest 14"). Used small minnows on slip bobber rig set 7 feet down. All fish came from two spots and spots that looked the same did not produce. Will be back out next monday.

I love catching 14" crappie, it's truley a slab. Nice job catching a pair. I take it Fountainhead is in northern Va?

Yeeeep Fountainhead, Fairfax co. in Nova. Crappie capital of the beltway region if you ask me. 14" specks are fairly common. The biggest speck I have personaly laid eye's on came from Foutainhead as did the state record flathead cat.

Got it up the Occoquan river in the cove next to the Old Yates Ford bridge. I am going out Wed nesday to give em more hell.

Yates Ford!? You went all the way up to Bull Run Marina?

No not bull run up the Occoquan River. It might be Davis Ford Rd that I was reffering to it is the bridge that crosses the Occoquan way upstream (not the Prince William pkwy bridge) there is a cove on the left after you pass under the bridge. I usually do better in the rivers than I do on the main lake.

Ok I know where you are talking about now, nice area. I know you didn't do that on a trolling motor from Fountainhead ramp. Is there a place in Ravenwood you launch from or did you 9.9 it up there?

No my friend has a decked out 9.9 that he never uses so I use it all the time. I am usually free Sundays and Mondays to fish so if you want to go give me a call 703-389-3508.
I usually launch from Bull Run when I fish the Quan River. If I fish down lake I launch from Lake Ridge.
