Pete and I are thinking about Your Nottoway for the red throats this Sun.
Can you give me the skinny on what's happenin?

All I can say is that the Herring never came up, the white perch very few came up, some shad did make the trip and as for the rock fish we're still waiting on them.![]()
The rivers have really been off this spring for the above and as you know they are all coming up the river in the spring for the spawn. This does not look good. As for the sun fish I have not heard any reports. I do know when I was last on the river two weeks ago Ron and I did see a few people fly fishing for them and did in fact see a few being caught. It is the time of the year for them and I think we might just try them Sunday. I'm going up to Washington Friday and coming back Saturday afternoon so that takes Saturday out of the picture. If you and Pete do decide to go let me know so we can meet up with you.

When demostrated a flame thower for the first time, Chesty Puller looked at the weapon then asked, "Where the heck do you attach the bayonet?"
If you guys do the canoe thing again this year, please let me know. Will try to get my fishin' bud to join me and make the trip with you guys.
Currently a non-fishing slacker! (not for too much longer)
Fished the Nottoway near the Sussex/Prince George line on the 12th
caught ALOT of nice red throats near any log jams and any shade we passed.
Saw a few guys catching shad as well. We watched them catch 3 and they had 5 or so already on the stringer.
I caught the majority of the nicer fish on a tiny torpedo topwater bait, while trying to catch bass. All others were caught on a variety of baits from beetle spins, rooster tails and small spinner baits. Anybody with a little fly rod skills,i feel, would burn them up
Just bought a new 2HP motor to help get up river as well. That kind of fishing sure does lead to alot of beer being drunk. I will be doing it alot more often this summer .
Bubba, we'll count on mtg. you on Sun. Let me know a place and time. I was thinking about putting in @ Hercules but I'm not sure about launching there. Is there another ramp that far up where we can launch?
Skidrow, we'll be sure to let you know when we do the Indian thing. Pete and I are thinking maybe first or second week in June.
Grease, that sounds like canoe territory where you guys were at. Can you give me a liitle more info. about the location. We have canoed from all the public ramps up to Stony Creek but I still get them all mixed up![]()

Hopefully with the new gas motor i can check it out as well.
Doodlum are you just going to sit there or help em out? Thats YOUR area!![]()
They are still down river a bit. I,m a few hundred yards below the Dinwiddie/Sussex line. Above Double Bridges.
Went out Tuesday and Wednesday. Only caught 1 Redeye, three small SM, two LM, and a bow fin. The river vegatation has not greened-up yet. Like everything else, running late. The water level/color is back to normal as of Wed. Still a little stained.
Give it a week or two and will give it a try.
Are you back to work? Speaking of work, I think your brother Dayton has gone underground. Look at the post time..I'm still at work making you look good.

" SIZE REALLY DOES MATTER"
I suspect that area around 258 will be loaded with river lice being Memorial day weekend.
