Default A question about bash start time.

Is it written in stone that all bashes are from 8-3? I only ask since I feel like we are really missing out on some prime fishing time. Today in Virginia Beach sunrise is at 5:53 and will get as early as 5:45 next month. With a summer bash wouldn't it make more sense to get on the water at 6:00 and off at 1:00 before it gets too hot? I know that travel is a consideration and that 8:00 gives those who do travel more time to get there. Heck, I'd even be happy with a 7:00 start. I've been having my best luck from sunrise to around 10:00. With a bash ending around 1:00 or 2:00 maybe we can even have lunch together and chew the fat after the official weigh in. Any thoughts?

8AM was decided on back when we first started these for the reason you said. To give people traveling time to get there. No its not set in stone but the group as a whole would have to agree to change it. I just try to coordinate them and do as the group wants.

I'll go at any time and whats good for the majority, but I agree with Tap,
starting a little earlier would get us onto the water during prime time. Cooler too.

I think everyone who wants to be in the bash should be at the launch at 5 AM
and if its a place like B Dam, Little Creek or Waller Mill that is gated & has hrs of operation, we should all drink & party, tailgate, while we wait for em to open. Then depending on the number of boats, we divide up however many go out & fish for 2 hrs while the rest drink/party/tailgate. Everyone has a 2 hr time slot. We use up all the time until the place closes or its dark. Weigh-in for big fish $ is at 9 PM sharp at the nearest topless bar to the bash sight.

I like Jeff's idea. Let's do it this weekend.

I'll always vote to get the earliest time. I guess we'll just have to make it a pole for the next trip.

i'm still trying to figure out why most folkswill fish all day usually. But when we have a bash we fish 7 hours and most everyone seems to be in a hurry to leave. I know most of us like to talk otherwise there wouldnt be so many with over 1000 posts!
